Steve Brown began his studies in the photographic medium at the Maryland Institute College of Art where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (Cum Laude) and continued his education at the University of Delaware where he was awarded a Master of Fine Arts. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

Steve has attended residencies at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Ireland and This Neck of the Woods, Rotterdam, Netherlands.

His current work continues to be influenced by the topographic tradition and his focus is primarily on the representation of the landscape as both a political and cultural text.

Steve is an Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and is the Photography Area head.
